Who is Funked Up Fluff?

Paula is the amazing mastermind behind Funked Up Fluff. Decades of art, fibre, and knitting experience developed into a passion for sustainable products that come with a heavy dose of fun, vibrancy, and colour.

After facing creative barriers knitting, Paula dived into spinning and then into cranking using old-fashioned methods. Through her explorations, she found that natural products have the longest life.

Funked Up Fluff became a place for creative souls and lovers of colour to find one of a kind, handmade, long-lasting supplies and socks that bring happiness whenever you look at them.

Paula’s Story

I’ve been knitting for as long as I can remember.

As a child spending my “pocket money” (aka allowance) at the village wool shop was always an exhilarating moment.

I was born and raised in the beautiful Peak District of England.  A place where “all things sheepy” was a way of life and learning to knit before you could read was customary.

I developed a love for the colours, textures, and the feel in my hands as I magically transformed a ball of “string” into something all my own.

After extensive travel, I arrived in Canada and the adult love affair began when the real power of natural fibres truly hit home.  Funked Up Fluff was borne out of the necessity to stay warm in this (slightly!) cooler climate but also from the desire to be unique and colourful throughout our monochromatic winters.

Living in Canada can wear hard and after years of clothing and products that simply didn’t last, I began looking back toward the durable clothing of childhood.

In a world of disposable items, the wiser choice is a throwback to a simpler time when garments were made with love and quality ingredients to stand the test of time.

You’re going to love it here. Browse through my hand-cranked socks, handspun yarns, and hand knitted accessories. Enjoy knowing that with every purchase you’re choosing items that last, a way to connect with traditional techniques and approaches, and keep you and your loved ones warm. I’m so happy you came by today.
